Most Kiswahili Speakers Don't Know How to Stay Safe Online

Every day, Kiswahili speakers around the world lose money to phone scams, get their accounts hacked, and receive fake messages from "banks" or "government agencies."

The problem isn't that people can't read. The problem is that most safety information exists in English—or in technical language that ordinary people don't understand.

01

Mobile Money Scams

People lose thousands to fake messages pretending to come from banks, M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, or government agencies.

02

Identity Theft

WhatsApp, Facebook, and email accounts get hijacked because people don't know how to set strong passwords and two-factor authentication.

03

Lack of Kiswahili Information

Most safety information is in English. Many people don't read it, don't understand it, or don't trust it. Kiswahili is a bridge, not a barrier.

Akili na Wakati is changing that—with simple Kiswahili, real examples, and practical advice for Kiswahili speakers worldwide.

About Akili na Wakati

Digital Safety in Kiswahili

Our Story

Akili na Wakati Limited was founded for a simple reason: Kiswahili speakers around the world don't have access to digital safety information in a language they truly understand.

We saw people losing money to phone scams. We saw accounts being hacked. We saw families torn apart by identity theft. And we saw that most safety information exists in English—or in technical language that ordinary people don't understand.

We decided to change that.

Today, Akili na Wakati Limited is the first Kiswahili-first digital safety and language services company. We write in simple Kiswahili, use real examples from East Africa, Central Africa, and the diaspora, and provide practical advice that anyone can follow.

Our goal is simple: to make digital safety accessible to every Kiswahili speaker—wherever you are in the world.

Our Qualifications

  • Advanced Kiswahili Certification (C2) — ijlaps.com
  • Diploma in Social Media Strategy — alison.com
  • Diploma in Cybersecurity — alison.com

What We Believe

  • Safety is a Right, Not a Product. Everyone deserves access to safety information, regardless of ability to pay. That's why all our articles are free.
  • Kiswahili is a Professional Language. Kiswahili can express technical concepts like "encryption," "phishing," and "data protection." We don't shy away from using Kiswahili for these topics.
  • Real Examples Matter. We talk about M-Pesa scams, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, and the real problems facing Kiswahili speakers every day.
  • Practical Advice is Best. We don't just talk about theory. We give steps anyone can take right away.
  • Privacy is a Right. We respect your privacy. We never sell or share your information with anyone.

Our Services

Akili na Wakati Limited provides three integrated service lines:

  • Kiswahili Digital Safety Content and Publishing — Articles, guides, and educational materials. Free for everyone.
  • Digital Safety Audits and Consulting — Audits of websites, social media, policies, and staff practices. Reports in Kiswahili and English.
